Organic photovoltaics (OPV) are revolutionizing the way we generate electrical power. Great strides in efficiency and durability have been made over the past two decades, and mass production is about to begin. Organic solar cells are lightweight and flexible, so they can be used on surfaces that are unsuitable for traditional inorganic photovoltaic technology. In addition, organic solar cells have a low carbon footprint, contributing to sustainable energy production.

Organic solar cells are the light-converting counterpart to OLEDs. Similar to an OLED, an OPV device is based on many different layers. Light is absorbed in a thin active layer and converted into an electron-hole pair. After separation, the electrons and holes must be transported to the electrodes, ideally without voltage loss. Therefore, it is important that the electron and hole transport layers are highly conductive, which is achieved by using suitable n- and p-dopants.  CREDOXYS has developed strong dopants that can be used in a wide range of different hole transport materials and help to increase the performance of organic solar cells.
